Today, many organizations are supporting human right initiatives. However, civil rights groups are fewer and tend to be less funded. This inadequacy has prompted various donors such as Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund to support the already existing groups in enhancing their objectives. The existence of many groups advocating for civil, human, and migrant rights has helped many migrants to settle in Europe.
Civil rights groups look into a broad range of issues. Non-governmental organizations are against racial profiling, gender discrimination, and discriminatory hiring. In addition, civil rights organizations enlightens the public on their civil rights and help them to seek justice when their rights are violated. Below are some of the leading civil rights groups in the United States:
The American Association of Retired Persons protects the rights of the elderly in the society. The non-profit advocacy group caters to the needs of individuals aged 50 years and above. Members of the group enjoy legal representation.
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is also an American group that seeks to protect individual rights and liberties. The organization focuses on various issues such as religious discrimination, violation of immigrants’ rights, and other concerns like dress codes. The group was formed in 1920. Initially, it engaged in protecting Americans from a potential communist revolution that had already gripped Russia. The group has remained as one of the key advocates for civil rights in the USA. The Government Has No Respect for the Constitution
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have been instrumental in bringing awareness to the American public on the brutal conditions Hispanic people face when coming to the United States of America. They have also been instrumental in showing us all how our freedom of speech is under attack and if we are not careful that we will lose them forever.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have shown that government officials not only are using their power to silence citizens but also to tyrannically oppress Hispanic immigrants. The main character behind all of this has been the Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Sheriff Joseph Arpaio is widely known to be guilty of crimes against humanity concerning Hispanics. His prisons cause people far and wide to fear because of the brutal conditions. Women have gone to these prisons pregnant only to be denied medical care and watch as their babies die. Men have been worked outside at the height of the Arizona summer heat and been denied refreshments and so they died of dehydration and heatstroke.
If any newspaper that collected this data and made it public Sheriff Joseph Arpaio would illegally arrest the people and threatened to destroy everything they loved should they continue publishing these findings. He even did this to Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. This turned out to be a very poor a move for Sheriff Joseph Arpaio as Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin would go public with it and get the nation on their side. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin would use the settlement money they won in the lawsuit against Maricopa County to start the Front Page Confidential and the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund.
These organizations work together to train and educate the next generation of activists to fight for immigration rights and freedom of speech
