Throughout his professional life, Andy Wirth has worked in the hotel and resort industry in Tahoe. He is the current CEO at Squaw Valley Ski, and his more than 25 years in the industry places him at a prime position to manage the company effectively.

His focus at this point is to convert the ski into the most preferred tourist destination across the world through his unwavering dedication. In 2016, he was also appointed as the Chairman and President of Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation.

Andy Wirth was born in Nuebrucke, Germany, and he attended the Colorado State University. It is at this time that he contemplated entering into the Skiing industry and he acquired experience as a ranger while he was working at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Having completed college education, Andy Wirth went looking for experience, and he joined Steamboat Ski and Resort for an internship in 1986. He proved his prowess and received a promotion to join the parent company, Intrawest, which in 2006 bought over Steamboat Ski and Resort. He was then promoted to the Chief Marketing Officer. His role included managing marketing operations, both locally and globally and he would come up with useful strategies to push the company towards prosperity.

Squaw Valley
For more than 70 years, Squaw Valley stayed in the hands of the Cushing family, until Andy Wirth was appointed as the CEO in 2010. He took over from Nancy Cushing, who had been in the position for 16 years.

Immediately, Andy Wirth was made responsible for managing more than $70 million meant to upgrade the resort, thereby raising its position to match competing skiing areas. One year after his leadership, Squaw gained better reputation and was ranked among the top 20 percent in the industry.

Apart from focusing on building his career, Andy Wirth has also been a passionate giver. He highly contributes to community and environmental conservation organizations across Lake Tahoe, with much focus on improving the region. His long-term aim is to improve the reputation of Squaw Valley and to build it into an internationally acclaimed destination.
