Robert Ivy is the American Institute of Architects’s current executive vice president and CEO. He has been promoted to the position in 2011, and since becoming the group’s leader, he has already shown excellence and has given the members of the group a preview on how the organization should be led. Robert Ivy’s role with the American Institute of Architects is to promote a good image for the profession and sharing the contributions of the architects to the public. He is also responsible for keeping an eye on every architect practicing in the United States, making sure that they are doing their profession ethically. Every architect caught unethically performing their professions or doing something illegal might be a ground for their licenses to be revoked. Robert Ivy cares so much for the image of architects in the United States, and from the national headquarters of the American Institute of Architects in Washington D.C., he is making sure that all members of the organization are far away from doing illegal activities.
Robert Ivy grew up in Mississippi, and since he was a child, he has already dreamed of becoming an architect. He went to the Sewanee: The University of the South in college where he got received his Bachelor of Arts in English degree. He graduated with honors from the university, and he decided to study once again. He then took a master’s degree in Architecture at the Tulane University, and after he graduated, he looked for a job where he can practice his newly acquired profession. He found a job at the McGraw-Hill Construction Media and Architectural Record, where he worked as a writer. He was promoted later on to become the company’s editor in chief, and his articles and publications have been released worldwide. Architectural Record soon became the most widely read journal on the planet.
Robert Ivy cared a lot for the reputation of architects in the United States. After he left being a writer, he decided that he should be an active member of the American Institute of Architects instead. He started to become active since 1996, and he joined most of the events hosted by the organization. He became a favorite among the executives of the group, and he was chosen to lead after the previous organization head retired. Robert Ivy has been receiving awards for his contribution to the profession, and he is optimistic that more people will be taking up the profession because they can see tangible results.
